Selecting Your Doula

Experience To be part of Your Dedicated Doula, a professional doula must complete an extensive application after which the agency does a thorough background check to assure she is fully vetted.

Personality Parents today want to be more involved in choosing their own doula as opposed to having one assigned to them by an agency. More parents today want to sit down with their doula before retaining them and learn more about them as professionals – and as a person. Your Dedicated Doula allows parents to get to know their doulas extensively initially through an extensive online profile. The next step is for parents to interview prospective doulas before choosing one.

Price  At YDD, we understand that experience and training is important; however, as a family of 6 Mary understands the importance of a budget. Your budget for your first child can be significantly different from the budget for your third or fourth child. With budgets in mind, you and your family may determine what you can and cannot afford. While all Dedicated Doulas are fully vetted and experienced, the agency allows these independent professionals to establish their own rates. It is our responsibility and promise to present you with candidates that fit your budget.

The Virtual Interview  Once your application has been accepted, a needs analysis will be conducted and YDD will provide you with a selection of profiles that will be sent for your review. You will have the opportunity to interview prospective doulas either virtually or in person. Once you have chosen the doula best suited for you, you and your doula will establish your terms of service. YDD will always be there throughout your partnership to facilitate any issues that may arise during your time with your doula.
